By now, most news organizations and the Twitter world are debating whether President Obama’s endorsement of gay marriage will turn off African-Americans — his most loyal supporters.
It’s a legitimate question because blacks, compared with other groups that make up the Democratic political base, have been the most resistant to an expansion of gay rights.
Citing deeply held religious objections to homosexuality, African-Americans, many of whom are evangelical Christians, have consistently voted for state bans on gay marriage, most recently in North Carolina on Tuesday. Blacks were credited with (or blamed for) providing the winning margin for the California ban passed in 2008 (which the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled unconstitutional).

It is so sad to me that this is even being questioned, gay rights are civil rights, human rights and we as Black people in America should understand the struggle to be seen as equal citizens of this country more than any other group. Sexual orientation, just like skin color, doesn’t make you any less of a person and you shouldn’t be denied basic rights because of it. Black people, we need to do better and open our minds!! Even if you don’t agree with the lifestyle you shouldn’t deny others the rights we fought so hard for.

News: Andre 3000 Grabing the Jimi Hendrix Role.
Andre 3000 will play Jimi Hendrix in the legendary guitarist’s biopic, All Is By My Side and that it will begin production in Ireland later this month.
The project is currently in pre-production in Wicklow, with principal photography set to begin in three weeks time in Dublin and Wicklow. The shoot will last six weeks in total.
‘All Is By My Side’ will be co-produced by Irish producer Tristan Orpen Lynch for Dublin-based production company Subotica Entertainment alongside ‘Donnie Darko’ director Richard Kelly’s Darko Entertainment and Britain’s Matador Pictures. The three companies will produce the movie under the banner of Watchtower Film Productions, with offices based out of Ardmore Studios.
“What would Atlanta’s rail map look like if voters approve?” This new map, created by Citizens for Progressive Transit, shows the prospective rail routes that would be approved if the T-SPLOST one cent sales tax for transportation projects vote succeeds in July.
